Cooked Up, Issue #003- Cooking Phobias
April 23, 2007
Hi

Just over one year ago, with great trepidation I launched this website Chicken Recipes Made Easy . As I checked the search engines daily to see if the website would actually be indexed, I was overwhelmed by the thousands of recipe sites that litter the internet. Was the online world really needing another recipe website? What chance did an unknown, South African, stay-at-home mom stand in a world dominated by Jamie Oliver, Nigella, Ainsley and all the other culinary experts. It seems that the beauty of the internet is that you can have a website that works and it doesn't matter who you are or what you look like.

Here I am sending out my 3rd newsletter. A warm welcome if you have just joined me. If you'd like to know more about me and why I do what I do then About Me is a good place to start.

Improve Your Culinary Skills

Do you know that there is a phobia of cooking...mageiricophobia Defined as "a persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of cooking", each year this surprisingly common phobia causes countless people needless distress. It's a sad fact that many people are too busy, too tired or just not confident enough to cook. I read a lot of cooking magazines, cookbook reviews and chef interviews. A large percentage of the authors and chefs state that they "got into cooking" because a significant family member loved cooking and instilled in them a love for cooking. May I encourage you to pass on your love for cooking, you never know where it may lead them.

Recipe Of The Day

If you need a bit of cooking inspiration then see my new Recipe Of The Day page for daily inspiration and some interesting cooking ideas. I mention on the page that these are not my recipes, I haven't tried them, so if you try to cook or bake something, you do so at your own risk.

Here on the Southern tip of Africa, we are heading for Winter so I've been looking for some nice casserole recipes. Lemon Chicken Casserole has a habit of not leaving leftovers so I think it's a winner for dinner in my household.

Happy Cooking and don't forget to spoil your mom on Mother's Day!

Kate
